Job Description
Job Title: Welder/Fabricator
Location: Dorchester SC
Job Type: Fulltime
Job Description:
Welder/Fabricator to operate the Day to Day in house fabrication of Custom Vehicular gates Custom Fencing Pedestrian Gates and Custom metal projects that include custom design fireplace screens target carts and to assist with drill tooling repairs. This position is looking for someone who is not interested in performing the same welding task every day you need to be creative and need to be willing to work with Steel Aluminum and Wood materials.
This position is for an inperson Position that will have some field repair work that will be required from time to time field work will include rehanging gates repairing pedestrian gates and fences and some railing stairs and custom gate operator stand fab work.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Read interpret and build from Engineered drawings as assigned by the Technical Director.
- Interpret and build from sketches photos video or other media as assigned by the Technical Director.
- Lay out steel construction efficiently and with a high degree of accuracy before welding.
- Measuring cutting Bending Punching of Aluminum and steel components for construction.
- Steel cleaning preparation storage and postwelding cleanup in preparation for Painting all finished products
- Operation of all of the following equipment; MIG welder TIG welder Spool Gun drill press horizontal band saw portable band saw abrasive saw cold miter saw angle grinders pneumatic roller bender pneumatic 55ton iron worker tap & die plasma cutter.
- Assist in the Mounting and installation of Gates Pedestrian Gates Custom Fencing Rails and all Custom Produced Products
- Willingness to transfer to a carpentry shop to produce Custom wood and Steel Gates Fence Panels and some general woodwork.
- Work in a safe efficient and organized manner.
- Willingness to Learn how to install Gate operator systems as well.
- Willing to provide feedback to the technical director/engineer on design specifications and production.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Minimum 3 years experience in carpentry/metalworking.
Ideal candidate will have a mechanical background in construction or production Must be able to safely operate a MIG welder TIG Welder or Stick Welder.
- Must be able to safely lift 50 lbs.
- Knowledge of industrystandard safe rigging practices.
- Knowledge of forces and load distribution.
- Positive attitude excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
- Attention to Detail
Education Experience and Licensing Requirements:
- Technical Welding Certification
- An engineering tech degree is a plus
- A mechanic background is a plus
