Job Description

The successful candidate for this position will be a 1099 contractor with Music Ministry International and be responsible for the following:

1. DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES/GENERAL INFORMATION

1.1. DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES

1.1.1. Scope of Work: The musicians shall serve as the primary musician for the Traditional worship service. The musician shall provide piano or organ accompaniment during the worship services provide prelude/postlude the call to worship special music selections (e.g. offertory musical special etc.) and benediction response as per the worship requirements and expectation of the chaplain assigned to lead the worship service.

1.1.2. Location: Primary facilities for the services provided will be but not limited to the chapels (Bldg 345 and the Bldg 4314).

1.1.3. Workmanship: All work shall be accomplished within the guidelines of the Traditional Service Chaplain Air

Force Instructions and the Wing Chaplains Policy Statements.

1.1.4. Work to be Accomplished:

1.1.4.1. Coordinate all music support requirements for the Traditional programs with the Traditional chaplain or designated representative. The Traditional chaplain or designated representative will provide the musician with the necessary information relative for the various chapel services and activities.

1.1.4.2. Coordinate with the Traditional Chaplain for special services. Musician shall be given a 30day notice before performing for special services.

1.1.4.3. Coordinate with the Traditional Chaplain when they are required to perform for a schedule activity.

1.1.4.4. Be in place with appropriate instrument(s) and ready to begin on time with appropriate prelude (10 minutes prior to start of worship service) hymns anthem(s) special music selections for offertory and postlude (5 minutes after end of worship service) for the worship service.

1.1.4.5. Setup and take down all necessary items for rehearsals and worship services. Ensure the areas used will be properly secured upon completion of rehearsals and worship services. All work areas must maintain a neat and orderly appearance.

1.1.4.6. Properly mark and utilize all music and videos that are copyright protected with the Chapels Christian Copyright License International (CCLI) number to be located on all sides of documents presentations or media.

1.1.5.7. The musician shall organize volunteers to assist the programs not limited to soloist duets musicians etc.

1.1.6. Performance: The musician must be in place in the sanctuary a minimum of 15 minutes before the start of the worship service. Rehearsal shall be no more than 6 days and no less than one day in advance of a scheduled performance. Rehearsals will last at least one (1) hour but no more than two (2) hours. Performances will last at least one (1) hour but no more than two (2) hours. Rehearsals will not exceed 52 units per year. Performances shall include a minimum 10minute warmup session before each service but must be accomplished prior to the 15 minutes to service start time. Performances are scheduled on Sundays. Performances will not exceed 52 units per year. Other special performances such as holy days may be required during weekdays. Special rehearsals and performances will not exceed16 units per year.

1.2. GENERAL INFORMATION

1.2.1. Musician Responsibility:

1.2.1.1. The musician is solely responsible for all tax liabilities. No provisions are implied or provided in this contract for any benefits such as medical care retirement or workers compensation. This is a NonPersonal Service Contract.

1.2.1.2. The musician shall provide a qualified substitute in the event the musician cannot meet any obligation of this contract. A qualified substitute is defined as an individual who meets the qualifications outlined in paragraph

1.1.5 of this PWS.

1.2.1.3. The musician shall present a neat well groomed appearance appropriate for chapel worship services during all times while he/she is performing services under this contract.

1.2.1.4. The musician shall furnish his/her own transportation to and from Yokota Air Base.

1.2.1.5. The Government will not be liable for loss damage theft or maintenance of personal equipment.

1.3.1 Special Qualifications:

1.3.1.1. Competency of Musician: Possess a Bachelor of Arts in music or 2 years of experience and 3 years of playing in religious worship services. Proficiently play both the piano and organ. Demonstrate both competence and capability to perform required services for which they are engaged and the ability to skillfully sight read and play music with little or no advanced preparation. This includes all worship services memorial services funerals choir rehearsals and special programs. Music pieces will be provided by the Chapel at the time of the audition. Musician must be able to provide a wide range of church music to include traditional liturgical and contemporary all of which will be tailored to meet the worship and liturgical needs of the particular service wherein assigned. Musician must possess a working knowledge of the liturgical calendar to be able to anticipate musical needs for presentations during the special seasons of the year. Be willing to work in an interfaith environment. Contractor must speak fluent English.

1.3.1.3 Furnish a resume including academic and at least three workrelated reference letters. These references will be submitted and checked by the assigned chaplain and/or Chapel representative. In addition the worship leader must submit a sample video of leading worship before being approved.

1.3.1.4 Be able to work with personnel who participate in the music ministry from different denominations/faith groups for ecumenical functions. Demonstrate a willingness to meet the needs of the Protestant chapel community. Have patience with different levels of musical talent/training from musicians and choir volunteers.

1.3.1.5 Shall have experience to recruit train and enhance skill level of team members. Must exhibit willingness to include all ranges of age groups.

1.3.1.3 An ability to work unsupervised in a fluid and sometimes stressful environment with parents and children. Possess an ability to maintain healthy functional interpersonal relationships with coworkers and Chapel staff. Maintain professional standards of conduct
