Job Description

Job Title: Nuclear Medicine Technician (Allied)

Location: Utica New York

Pay Rate: $80/hr

Duration: 13 weeks contract

Shift: 10hr Day

Guarantee Hours: 40

Your pay is based on whether you are in a local or travel position. A travel position is defined as residing more than 75 miles from the facility.

  • Duties: Nuclear Medicine Tech under general supervision performs routine diagnostic procedures and may have individual responsibility for training and leading the work of other employees.
  • Qualifications: Nuclear Medicine Technologist NYS license/registration
  • ARRT or CNMT certification in Nuclear Medicine
  • Valid CPR certification

The Nuclear Medicine Technician is responsible for preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals performing nuclear medicine procedures and producing diagnostic images for physician interpretation. The technician ensures patient safety and comfort while delivering highquality imaging services in a compassionate and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients following established protocols.
  • Perform nuclear medicine imaging procedures including PET SPECT and other specialized studies.
  • Operate gamma cameras and other imaging equipment to capture diagnostic images.
  • Monitor patients during procedures and ensure their safety and comfort.
  • Maintain accurate patient records including documentation of administered doses and imaging results.
  • Process and analyze images ensuring they meet quality standards for diagnostic interpretation.
  • Collaborate with physicians radiologists and other healthcare team members to provide optimal patient care.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and protocols including radiation safety and infection control.
  • Maintain and calibrate imaging equipment to ensure proper functioning.
  • Assist with scheduling and managing patient flow to optimize department efficiency.
  • Educate patients and their families about nuclear medicine procedures and address any questions or concerns.

Qualifications:

  • Associates or Bachelors degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or related field required.
  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (N) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) required.
  • New York State license as a Nuclear Medicine Technician required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technician preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Strong technical skills and knowledge of nuclear medicine procedures and equipment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Compassionate and patientfocused attitude.
  • Proficient in using imaging software and electronic health records (EHR).
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow protocols accurately.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

Skills:

  • Proficient in the preparation and administration of radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Expertise in performing nuclear medicine imaging procedures including PET and SPECT.
  • Skilled in operating gamma cameras and other nuclear imaging equipment.
  • Strong understanding of radiation safety protocols and infection control procedures.
  • Ability to monitor patient conditions and respond to emergencies during procedures.
  • Proficiency in using imaging software and electronic health records (EHR).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient interaction and team collaboration.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow precise protocols and procedures.
  • Technical aptitude for maintaining and calibrating imaging equipment.
