Job Description

The Flow Cytometry Technologist is responsible for performing analytical cytometry examinations quality control instrument maintenance testing validations and other functions while implementing the hospital and laboratory missions goals and objectives.
ANOTHER NAME FOR THIS PROFESSION IS FLUORESCENCEACTIVATED CELL SORTING (FACS). A cytotechnologist without the ASCP (SCYM) will not be considered for this need.
Requested time off during the course of this assignment MUST be noted and verified at upload. RTO REQUESTS AFTER UPLOAD WILL NOT BE APPROVED!! NO MORE THAN 5 DAYS OF RTO WILL BE ACCEPTED (less is better).
Traveler must be willing to work ONE of the following:
Christmas Eve/Christmas Day and weekend after
New Year Eve/New Year Day and weekend after
Additional Requirements (including but not limited to):
- Independent judgment and initiative required to schedule organize and plan work.
- Teach medical technology students how to process specimens and answer computer related questions.
- Responsible for care and accuracy in collection and labeling specimens.
- Flexibility and adaptability in emergency situations including working additional hours or shifts.
- Ability to work efficiently accurately and alertly for extended periods of time and under stress to ensure against errors.
- Above average manual dexterity.
- Effective communication skills use of computer systems listening speaking writing and reading.
- Knowledge of HIS and LIS.
- Assorted laboratory analyzers and equipment appropriate to scope of position and dependent upon current technology.

- 3 years current experience in approved laboratory
- ANOTHER NAME FOR THIS SKILL IS FLUORESCENCEACTIVATED CELL SORTING (FACS)
- Bachelor degree in Medical Technology or related science required
- Previous travel experience preferred
- ASPC (Cytometry SCYM required) or ICCE required Equivalent certs are not accepted An ASCP/Cytotechnologist will not be accepted without the SCYM or ICCE Test
- Must have ability and education to perform highcomplexity laboratory testing
- Traveler candidate must have their own vehicle. This is a firm requirement.
