The Handyman will be responsible for a wide variety of activities in repairs and maintenance applying basic fixes to equipment and building systems to ensure that our facilities are both tidy and functional at all times.
Overall Duties and Responsibilities
Perform all handyman duties within KOFISI Centres
Fitting assembling and altering internal and external fixtures of buildings such as flooring walls partitions doors windows & frames.
Fabricating and repairing items used by various departments.
Repairing and restoring furnishings where possible.
Carry out routine preventative maintenance in line with job schedules and direction from the Maintenance Supervisor
Ensure cost efficient use of department materials and equipment.
Work together with department staff and employees to provide an efficient maintenance service.
Keeping tools of trade secure and in good condition reporting damages and losses immediately to supervisor.
Keeping adequate stock of essential maintenance spares and advising supervisor in good time when materials require reordering.
Any other works as directed by the Facilities Coordinator.
Qualification & skills
o 3 years experience working in a similar role
o Computer literate
o Fluency in English French and Arabic languages is an added advantage
o Proven inventory control skills
o Ability to check blueprints repair manuals or parts catalogues as necessary
o Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
o Good communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively within a team setting
o Knowledge of relevant health and safety standards
o Presentable with high degree of professionalism
o Ability to work well under minimal supervision
o Must be available 24hrs for emergency call out
o Strong time management skills
o Basic analytical skills detail orientated with an aptitude for problemsolving
o Strong attention to detail
o Ability to lift objects up to 25 kg
Experience
o Government Trade Test
o Experienced with all hand tools such as: planes chisels saws brace mitre plumbs and levels.
o Experienced with all carpentry power tools such as: electric drills routers saws holesaws and planes.
o Experienced in other task such as varnishing and painting.
