Job Description
The Test Engineer/Jr. Systems Engineer position will support AASHTOWare Project software used by NCDOT via creating executing & managing test cases for letting and compliance software use Azure DevOps & backup the lead systems engineer.
- Its expected that the Test Engineer/Jr. Systems Engineer will be available 8 hours during standard business hours 8AM 6PM MF local time.
- This is technical and analytical work in designing developing implementing and supporting AASHTOWare Project (AWP) software for bidding letting certified payroll compliance and market analysis data analytics reports and dashboards for the NCDOT.
- This role works with business analysts and other technical staff to deliver required functionality for AWP Preconstruction and CRL modules to the NCDOT business customers in an agile environment.
- It is expected that this position will be needed for the next year or two.
- This is technical work with AWP and supports participating in a wide range of activities related to implementation and support including system administration reporting automated testing configuration and interface development.
- This individual will work directly for the NCDITTransportation Letting and Compliance Systems (LCS) manager.
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written and experience clearly communicating with developers product analyst customers and managers
- Strong experience with automated testing tools and methods
- Ability to review and translate business user specifications/User Stories into Test Cases
- Ability to clearly explain technical issues and processes to team members software vendors and potentially other DOTs and manage testing support needed until issues are resolved or workarounds are identified.
- Ability to work independently managing own work task and deadlines and coordinating team participation with others to complete testing assignments
- Ability to organize and manage a central repository of Test Cases and ability to migrate existing MS Excel test documentation to a centralized tool
- experience working in a SCRUM software development and support team
- General knowledge of IT and software development best practices
- Familiarity with data models and ability to read them and research data relationships
- Knowledge of any of the following: MS Power Automate SQLC# .NET python PowerShell command line or similar to automate task and make work more efficient.
- Strong experience using MS Azure DevOps MS Teams O365 applications MS Office Suite applications Visio SharePoint OneDrive
- General familiarity with change management processes in an enterprise multistage environment (ServiceNow exp preferred or similar)
- Experience with Windows Server/Desktop maintenance including installing applicationsanalyzing application logs
- CloudServices experience like AWS or Azure
- Ability to work well in a virtual team
