Requirements

We are seeking a skilled Apache SOLR Developer to join our team and contribute to the design development optimization and maintenance of search solutions for our applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Apache SOLR search engine technologies and scalable systems development.

Key Responsibilities:

1. SOLR Implementation and Development:
   

   • Design and implement SOLR indexes to meet applicationspecific search requirements.
     
   • Customize and extend SOLR functionalities using plugins and configurations.
     
   • Develop complex query parsers and implement faceted search features.
     

2. Search Optimization:
   

   • Analyze and optimize SOLR configurations for performance scalability and relevance tuning.
     
   • Work on query performance tuning and indexing strategies.
     

3. Integration and Maintenance:
   

   • Integrate SOLR with existing application architectures and databases.
     
   • Maintain and monitor SOLR clusters ensuring high availability and stability.
     

4. Data Handling:
   

   • Handle data ingestion pipelines for structured and unstructured data into SOLR.
     
   • Implement and maintain ETL pipelines to process and prepare data for indexing.
     

5. Collaboration:
   

   • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to define requirements and deliver solutions.
     
   • Provide guidance and support to junior developers on SOLR best practices.
     

6. Troubleshooting and Support:
   

   • Investigate and resolve SOLRrelated issues including indexing query performance and system stability.
     
   • Implement robust error handling and logging mechanisms.
     

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Core Expertise:
  

  • 38 years of handson experience with Apache SOLR.
    
  • Strong understanding of search engine architecture query tuning and relevance optimization.
    
  • Experience in designing and managing SOLR schema core configurations and collections.
    

• Technical Proficiency:
  

  • Proficient in Java or other programming languages used in SOLR plugin development.
    
  • Experience with REST APIs for SOLR operations and integrations.
    
  • Familiarity with indexing pipelines and working with JSON XML and other data formats.
    

• Database and Systems Knowledge:
  

  • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g. MySQL MongoDB).
    
  • Knowledge of distributed systems including SOLRCloud Zookeeper and clustering mechanisms.
    

• ProblemSolving:
  

  • Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting and resolving searchrelated issues.
    

• Communication:
  

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with stakeholders and technical teams.
    

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with related search technologies like Elasticsearch or Lucene.
  
• Familiarity with big data platforms (e.g. Hadoop Spark).
  
• Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools (e.g. Docker Kubernetes).
  
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines for SOLR deployments.
