Job Description

  • Initial contract duration for 12 months with extension of 12 months
  • Location: ACT
  • Security Requirements: Candidates must have a TSPV
  • Working Arrangement: Onsite

The buyer may implement a reduced activity period which may apply to your specified personnel. Despite any other provision in this work order the Comprehensive Terms or the Master Agreement your specified personnel will not be required to undertake work for the buyer during the reduced activity period. The buyer will not be liable to pay you any charges during a reduced activity period except for days worked by your specified personnel with prior written approval.


Maximum hours: 40 hours per week

SoftLabs is seeking Infrastructure Engineer for ICT Labour hire at their technology consulting based in Canberra.





Job details

The Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) is a statutory agency in the Defence portfolio that defends Australia against global threats and advances our national interests through the provision of foreign signals intelligence cyber security and offensive cyber operations as directed by the Australian Government.

ASD requires a System Administrator to provide system administration support under general direction in a key capability domain.


Key duties and responsibilities

  • Lead the installation configuration and sustainment of Linux based ICT infrastructure (physical and cloud based) including servers and/or network devices
  • Use automation tools such as Puppet Ansible and others to prepare and replicate system builds
  • Configure and sustain core services for systems including monitoring syslog or authentication
  • Maintain reliability of ICT infrastructure this includes configuration automation upgrading and patching monitoring along with utilising version control systems
  • Communicate with diverse stakeholder groups in technical and business process terms
  • Maintain technical documentation in accordance with industry standards
  • contribute to the preparation of software implementation procedures including contingency plans
  • Monitoring operational systems for usage and failure rates resolving issues as they arise




Technical skills

  • Demonstrated experience with Apache NIFI Demonstrated experience with Atlassian software such as JIRA and Confluence Demonstrated experience in the use of application management software and tools




Criteria

The buyer has specified that each candidate must provide a onepage pitch to address all criteria specified. This is equal to 5000 characters.


Essential criteria:


1. IT infrastructure: Level 4 (SFIA)

Provides technical expertise to enable the correct application of operational procedures. Contributes to the planning and implementation of infrastructure maintenance and updates. Implements agreed infrastructure changes and maintenance routines. Uses infrastructure management tools to determine load and performance statistics. Configures tools and/or creates scripts to automate the provisioning testing and deployment of new and changed infrastructure. Maintains operational procedures and checks that they are executed following agreed standards. Investigates and enables the resolution of operational issues. Provides reports and proposals for improvement to specialists users and managers.


2. Problem management: Level 3 (SFIA)

Investigates problems in systems processes and services. Assists with the implementation of agreed remedies and preventative measures.


3. Programming/software development: Level 2 (SFIA)

Designs codes verifies tests documents amends and refactors simple programs/scripts. Applies agreed standards and tools to achieve a wellengineered result. Reviews own work.


4. Systems design: Level 4 (SFIA)

Designs system components using appropriate modelling techniques following agreed architectures design standards patterns and methodology. Identifies and evaluates alternative design options and tradeoffs. Creates multiple design views to address the concerns of the different stakeholders and to handle functional and nonfunctional requirements. Models simulates or prototypes the behaviour of proposed system components to enable approval by stakeholders. Produces detailed design specifications to form the basis for the construction of systems. Reviews verifies and improves own designs against specifications.


5. Systems installation and removal: Level 4 (SFIA)

Undertakes or supervises complex installations and deinstallations of systems or components including handover to the client. Develops procedures and standards for installation and handover to maintain and improve the installation service. Schedules installation work around client priorities and resource availability. Ensures adherence to established safety and quality procedures.
