Contract: Permanent full time

Reporting to: Senior Director of Electrical Engineering

Your role in the mission:

Type One Energy are seeking aSenior Scientist Plasma Control Lead who will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of advanced plasma control systems for our stellarator fusion technology.

This role will involve collaborating with a team of Scientists Engineers and Technicians to design build and test innovative plasma control solutions that optimize plasma performance and stability.

  • Lead and coordinate plasma controls ensuring they meet technical requirements and feasibility
  • Work with internal plasma diagnostics stellarator core controls data acquisition and communication and other teams to define and execute plasma control and operations strategy.
  • Lead the development the plasma control algorithms.
  • Participate in thorough definition of system architecture and interfaces.
  • Participate in strategy for implementation of rapid system integration.
  • Participate in efforts to optimize machine availability by helping to establish machine safety strategy interlock thresholds and root cause diagnoses.
  • Contribute to the system process model as part of T1Es system simulator
  • Participate in planning execution and analysis of experiments.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior scientists and engineers fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.

    What youll need:

    • Ph.D. in plasma physics electrical engineering or a related field.
    • Extensive experience in the development and implementation of plasma control systems for fusion devices.
    • Strong knowledge of plasma physics principles and experimental techniques.
    • Experience with system integration of large hardware and software projects
    • Experience with advanced control algorithms and software tools.
    • Proven ability to lead and manage research projects.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong problemsolving and analytical skills.
