Main Purpose of the Job:

Mott MacDonald is currently looking for a Principal Transport Planner to lead the delivery of transportation and mobility support on masterplanning and land development projects in Saudi Arabia and the wider region.

Key responsibilities and duties are listed but not limited to the below:
  • Lead and mentor small design teams to provide efficient and compliant deliverables with a high standard of quality.
  • Lead the development of transportation strategies and studies with careful consideration of emerging trends in the transportation and mobility space.
  • Monitor and control project budgets and schedules for projects; initiate necessary action to achieve agreed financial targets.
  • Review client briefs (RFPs) and respond with technical tailored proposals.
  • Lead liaison with local authorities (and other key stakeholders) in pursuit of approvals and general coordination.
  • Coordinate with the other masterplan disciplines to ensure coordinated and integrated solutions
  • Prepare and supervise the preparation of relevant transport strategy and study documents. This will include drawings and design team support throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Represent the company in technical meetings with our clients supervise the work of more junior staff and provide technical and professional guidance to assist their development.

Candidate Specification:
  • Bachelors in Transportation and Civil Engineering; an MSc in Transport Planning or in Civil Engineering would be highly advantageous
  • Relevant experience in the GCC region for major transport planning projects
  • Demonstratable experience of leading studies / working within multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated outcomes is essential.
  • Have a strong local contact base (with developers and government agencies).
  • Experience in liaising with Government Authorities and Municipality Departments to obtain approvals.
  • Experience in making sound judgements on complex and sensitive issues.
  • Highly competent in operational and junction modelling software such as Synchro HCS and Sidra.
  • Arabic speaking is advantageous.
  • Ability to work under own initiative
