JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE Under the supervision of the Quality Assurance Manager the Quality Assurance (QA) Lead is responsible for ensuring that the manufacturing of food products occurs in a safe manner in compliance with federal regulations (FDA/USDA) state laws current SQF code and other procedures as required. The QA Lead will be focused on working towards the high food safety and quality standards through using a riskbased food safety and quality system that challenges us with continuous improvement organizational culture standards and technology. This individual will ensure food safety and quality by implementing the use of proven methods of processing continuous review/improvement of the system and validation through extensive internal and external audits. The QA Lead is responsible for monitoring and enforcing the food safety sanitation allergen control etc. programs within their site. The QA Lead acts as back up for the QA Technicians.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES All employees are responsible for reporting food safety and quality issues to those responsible to initiate action.
Record observations from Plant walks through and complete reports.
Conduct verification in all QA Technician in operation on a regularly scheduled basis as required by the HACCP Food Safety Program.
Reports all quality defects to QA Manager and Plant Manager so corrective action can be taken.
Responsible for duties associated with the company’s SQF Program; produce safe quality food.
Monitor production operations and procedures to ensure compliance with HACCP General Food Safety.
Conduct periodic audits to ensure that procedures are being followed and areas being maintained in a state of control.
Participate in internal and external audits as requested.
Participate in Customer Complaints investigations
Ensure product hold program is executed properly by QA Technicians
Conduct monthly Hold Log verification
Verifying strict adherence to established quality and food safety standard operating procedures and compliance with USDA and FDA regulations.
Review applicable paperwork associated with company HACCP Programs on a daily basis.
Works with QA Manager to attain goals carry out strategies plans
Ability to thrive in a constantly changing environment.
Trained in all QA Techs positions
Assist in training of site employees as necessary with site management and QA Manager.
Provide input details reports feedback etc. to QA Manager to implement monitor and enforce all necessary processes and procedures
Perform and assist with additional duties as assigned by QA Management
QUALIFICATIONS
2 or more years of experience within the food industry or other similar position with knowledge and understanding of GMPs HACCP FDA/USDA regulations current SQF code and GFSI standards a plus
Bilingual fluent in both Spanish and English required
Ability to read and write in both Spanish and English preferred
Food Service Certificate HACCP Certificate required
SQF Practitioner Certificate preferred
Reliable transportation required
