Medical Billing Specialist (Denials & Appeals)

Position : Medical Billing Specialist

Working Schedule : 8a5p EST

Salary Range :$1800$2000 USD Monthly (the final salary will be determined by the candidate's level of experience and at the discretion of the client)

Medical Billing Specialist (Denials & Appeals)

Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and detailoriented Medical Billing Specialist with a strong focus on managing the denial and appeal processes for mental health claims. This role involves extensive communication with insurance companies to resolve denied or rejected claims efficiently and accurately. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of medical billing procedures particularly within the mental health sector and be knowledgeable in handling claims for mental health prescriptions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Denial and Appeal Management: Proactively manage and follow up on denied and rejected claims identifying reasons for denials and taking necessary steps to appeal and resolve issues with insurance companies.
  • Insurance Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for insurance companies conducting regular calls to clarify claim statuses address issues and expedite the appeal process.
  • Client Payment Resolution: Directly contact clients to address nonpayment or credit card issues helping them update payment information and ensuring continuity of service.
  • Claims Submission: Accurately submit mental health claims ensuring all necessary documentation and coding is in place to minimize denial rates.
  • Medical Billing for Mental Health Prescriptions: Handle billing for mental health prescriptions staying current with insurance requirements and best practices specific to mental health billing.

Qualifications:

  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in medical billing with a preference for psychotherapy billing.
  • Proven experience in submitting claims data entry and resubmitting rejected and denied claims.
  • Exceptional phone communication skills with the ability to manage a high volume of calls effectively resolve issues with insurance representatives and clients and maintain a professional empathetic approach.
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple claims efficiently.
  • Proven experience in mental health billing with a focus on denials appeals claims processing and client payment resolution.
Analytical Abilities:
  • Basic analytical skills to assist in generating reports and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Ability to use data to support decisionmaking and optimize billing operations.
