Position Title: Special Education Teacher (PreK8)
Location: Somerville MA
Position Type: FullTime
Overview:
The School is seeking a compassionate dedicated and qualified Special Education Teacher to support students in PreK8 who require specialized instruction. This role will involve creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment that addresses each students individualized educational needs.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and Implement IEPs: Design and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each students unique needs in compliance with district and state standards.
- Differentiated Instruction: Deliver specialized instruction using various methods to meet the diverse learning needs of students with disabilities.
- Behavioral Support: Establish positive behavior interventions and supports maintaining a safe and productive classroom environment.
- Collaboration: Work closely with general education teachers support staff parents and other stakeholders to promote student success.
- Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Conduct regular assessments and document student progress adjusting instructional methods as needed.
- Professional Development: Participate in ongoing training sessions and professional development opportunities to stay informed about best practices in special education.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Certification: Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) licensure in Moderate Disabilities PreK8 or Severe Disabilities PreK8.
- Experience: Prior experience working with students with special needs preferably within a school setting.
- Skills: Strong communication organizational and interpersonal skills; ability to implement evidencebased teaching strategies and manage classroom behavior effectively.
