Financial Controller Job Description

Job Summary

A fastgrowing hotel management company based in Miami Beach FL with 25 hotels currently under management across 13 markets is seeking an experienced Finance and Accounting expert to join the team. This leadership role will oversee Accounts Payable and Receivable financial reporting budgeting and operational performance for 25 hotels (and growing) ensuring smooth financial operations and accuracy in reporting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for generating detailed financial reports for the company owners and investors as well as monitoring preparing and presenting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to provide stakeholders with clear insights into financial performance. Proficiency in QuickBooks finance and accounting software Microsoft Office (specifically Excel and PowerPoint) is essential. Experience in the hotel industry working within the Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry (USALI) with at least 2 years of experience is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage Accounts Payable and Receivable across the entire hotel portfolio ensuring timely and accurate payments billing recordkeeping endofmonth reconciliation and closing of the books.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports (balance sheets P&L statements cash flow statements etc.) to monitor the financial health of the company and each hotel providing recommendations to owners and investors.
  • Create develop and maintain standardized budgets for the company and individual hotels and create reports on performance data comparisons (budget vs. actual).
  • Develop and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure financial performance and highlight areas for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations company policies and industry standards.
  • Work closely with hotel management teams to assist in budgeting forecasting and financial planning.
  • Maintain detailed financial records in finance software and Excel ensuring accurate financial data entry.
  • Utilize Excel and various finance and accounting software for indepth data analysis financial modeling and reporting.
  • Collaborate with the management team to ensure financial processes are efficient and support overall business goals.
  • Create and continually audit all internal financial controls including AR/AP purchasing invoicing disbursements inventories staffing/payroll and employee records.
  • Review process and document invoices and prepare payments for owners investors and thirdparty vendors.
  • Prepare key financial reports and support in remitting payments to government entities and taxing authorities.
  • Establish maintain and update finance and accounting protocols procedures and SOPs; establish companywide finance controls.
  • Liaise and coordinate with ownership groups and investors to ensure accuracy of financial information records and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance Accounting or a related field.
  • 3 years of experience in Finance Accounting or financial management with experience managing a mid/large portfolio of hotel properties.
  • Experience in the hotel industry is preferred but not required.
  • Strong proficiency in developing financial controls and using accounting and finance software with a deep understanding of QuickBooks Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop and interpret financial reports cash flow statements P&Ls balance sheets operating reports budgets and KPIs.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work under strict time constraints.
  • Excellent organizational skills and extreme attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work with stakeholders at various levels of the organization.
