Job Summary:
The Physical Therapist Assistant conducts patient assessment testing and therapy under the supervision of a physical therapist.
Administers physical therapy interventions as per the Physical Therapists plan to ensure quality patient care.
Monitors patient performance and physical status to ascertain effectiveness of the program.
Assists with patient mobility including bed mobility transfers and gait.
Adheres to safety practices with patient guarding and escorts patients to the treatment area.
Establishes professional rapport with patients.
Develops and documents home exercise programs and supplemental instructional programs as needed.
Prepares comprehensive and concise assessments and documentation of patient treatment and progress.
Communicates with the Physical Therapist about patient progress and need for goal modification.
Submits accurate charges in a timely manner.
May supervise physical therapy aides and students in accordance with the Texas Physical Therapy Practice Act guidelines.
Continually updates professional and technical knowledge and skills; presents educational programs to Physical Therapy staff when requested.
Must be physically capable of prolonged being upright moving pushing and holding.
Good communication problemsolving and computer skills required.
Must maintain confidentiality regarding patients and be able to relate professionally and positively with patients families and other employees.

Qualifications include an Associates degree less than 1 year of experience Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) certification and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
