As a Water Distribution Maintenance Worker I for the City of Borger you play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and efficiency of the citys water distribution system. This entrylevel position involves handson tasks related to the installation maintenance and repair of water lines meters and associated infrastructure. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on water distribution systems including pipes valves hydrants and service lines.
Installation Tasks: Assist in the installation of new water distribution infrastructure including laying pipe and installing meters and hydrants.
System Monitoring: Monitor the condition of the water distribution system and report any issues or potential problems to supervisors.
Emergency Response: Participate in emergency response teams for water leaks pipe bursts and other urgent maintenance issues.
Tools and Equipment Operation: Safely operate tools and equipment necessary for maintenance and repair tasks such as wrenches shovels and mechanical cutters.
Compliance and Safety: Adhere to all safety protocols and regulatory requirements to ensure operations are carried out safely and compliantly.
Typical Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certifications in plumbing pipefitting or a related field are a plus.
Experience: Experience in construction plumbing or a related field is beneficial but not required.
Certifications: Certification from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) as a Class C Water Operator within 2 y ears of the date of employment.
Skills: Basic understanding of water distribution systems ability to use hand and power tools good physical condition.
