Job Description
Job Title: Phlebotomist
Location: Bedford MA 01730
Duration: 1 Year or Full time (options for 26 weeks contract)
Start Date: February 2025
Shift Schedule: 8:00 AM 4:30 PM (Monday through Friday)
Qualification:
Certifications: Phlebotomist BLS
Experience: Minimum of 1 year of Phlebotomist experience
Responsibilities:
- Perform blood collection requiring knowledge of clinical science to understand the multiplicity of tests and specimen requirements the mechanics of venipuncture and patient preparation.
- Perform phlebotomy to obtain patient specimens for laboratory testing including blood cultures and compatibility samples.
- Accession and receive samples into VA laboratory information system package for in house testing or send outs to reference laboratories.
- Instruct patients in proper collection of 24hour urine and other samples collected at home.
- Prepare collection measure and record 24hour urine volumes.
- Transport specimens to the laboratory including those requiring special handling.
- Establish and maintain effective interpersonal skills and good customer relations with Patients Families and all other Medical Center Employees.
