- Period of Performance: One (1) year plus four (4) option years.
- Estimate Pay: $40.00 $45.00/hour.
Job Summary: The Lactation Counselor/Trainer for Women Infants and Children (WIC) Breastfeeding Management and Lactation Principles will be responsible for delivering comprehensive training sessions on advanced lactation management and related topics. This role involves conducting multiple training sessions preparing educational materials and developing new curricula as needed. The trainer will work closely with the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) to ensure all training requirements are met.
Qualifications:
- Licensed Registered Nurse
- Associate/bachelors degree.
- Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) or equivalent certification.
- Extensive experience in breastfeeding management and lactation principles.
- Proven track record of delivering effective training sessions.
- Strong research and curriculum development skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching Classes:
- Conduct four (4) training sessions of Advanced Lactation Management (ALM) classes.
- Each session will include two (2) classes providing indepth knowledge and practical skills in lactation management.
Lunch and Learn Sessions:
- Prepare and deliver one (1) to four (4) lunch and learn training sessions on topics assigned by HHSC.
- Ensure sessions are engaging informative and tailored to the needs of the participants.
Special Assignments:
- Complete special assignments related to breastfeeding management and lactation principles as requested by HHSC.
- Provide expert advice and support on various breastfeedingrelated projects.
Curriculum Development:
- Research and develop new continuing education curricula upon HHSC request.
- Ensure all educational materials are uptodate evidencebased and aligned with current best practices in lactation management.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with WIC programs.
- Familiarity with HHSC guidelines and requirements.
- Bilingual skills (if applicable).
