NC - Ultrasound Tech - Fayetteville

Assignment Start Date: 11/25/2024

Shift: Full Time All shifts available.

Salary: $60000.00 to $95000.00

The Ultrasound Technologist performs medical sonograms exercises professional judgment in performance procedures and provides safe patient care. The Ultrasound Technologist I is fully competent to perform all diagnostic procedures for the Diagnosis of specific diseases or conditions

MAJOR JOB FUNCTIONS:

The following is a summary of the major essential functions of the job. The incumbent may perform other duties both major and minor that are not mentioned below; and specific functions may change from time to time.

• Responsible to the Ultrasound Supervisor or Radiology Manager
• Fully competent to perform all procedures within the Ultrasound Section of the Radiology Department
• Fully competent in the technical operations of all equipment in this section.
• Assess the patient and review the orders/ chart as appropriate confirming the reason for the exam. Ensures pertinent patient symptoms and clinical history are documented and a signed consent form is present if needed.
• Prepares the patient for the procedure answers any patients questions and effectively communicates with the supervising radiologist for special instructions and/or questions regarding exam protocol.
• Responsible for the prompt completion and accurate recording of exam begin and end time in the Radiology Information System (RIS) to ensure timely access to study by the radiologist.
• Provides a safe environment to include but not limited to infection control guidelines universal precautions and patient safety goals.
• Monitors the timeliness of exams and quality of care based on established department goals striving for continuous quality improvement. Performs QA of exams (correct order accurate/complete image annotation correct laterality) before sending to a radiologist for interpretation.
• Actively participates in the clinical education of student sonographers.
• Actively participates in the departments Performance Improvement Projects.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATION

Experience:

• 1 year of minimal experience is required.

Education:

• Graduate of an AMAapproved Sonography program.
• New graduates may apply who are registered or registry eligible.

Licenses Certifications and/or Registration:

• ARRT (Sonography) or ARDMS Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer(RDMS) is preferred.
• New graduates that are registry eligible must be registered by either ARDMS or ARRT (Sonography) within 12 months of their hire date.
• Must maintain current AHA CPR certification through the hospital Training and Development Department program

• Demonstrates technical skills and expertise in performing diagnostic and vascular sonography.

• Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development and understands the range of treatment needed for all age groups.
• Provides care based on the patients developmental needs.
• Experienced in the delivery of effective patient care and interacts effectively with patients of all ages.
• Must be able to communicate orally.
• Must have dexterity and visual acuity.
• Must have mobility to assume awkward positions.
• Must have mobility to respond to emergencies.
• Must be able to stand for long periods.
• Must be able to bend and have the ability to lift 100 lbs/carry objects up to 50 lbs. Position may involve skin eye or mucous membrane contact with blood or other potentially infectious material.
