Position Summary:
South Florida Bible College invites applications for an Adjunct Professor qualified to teach undergraduate courses in English. This position is adjunct working oncampus only. There are currently no online openings. The applicant must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach undergraduate courses (Reading and Writing Essentials Beginning College Writing Composition I and II Literature).
Preferred Qualifications:
Earned Ph.D. in English with an emphasis in Composition and Rhetoric plus experience teaching Composition.
Essential Qualifications:
Earned MA in English Literature or Composition and Rhetoric or a masters degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in English Communications Creative Writing Journalism Linguistics Rhetoric or Composition.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create an environment of learning through effective teaching skills maintain studentcentered focus.
- Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and encourage active learning.
- Create learning activities including assignments tests quizzes and labs and assess student outcomes in a timely manner through effective assessment and constructive feedback to students to support the learning process.
- Perform lectures for campus courses and hold scheduled virtual course meetings for online courses. Teaching will be conducted through oncampus and online delivery.
- Interact positively with diverse student populations; provide all students with equal opportunities for learning.
- Demonstrate a commitment to the industry maintain knowledge and skill relevancy through continuing education as defined in the faculty development plan.

Skills:
- Proficiency using software programs such as MS Word and PowerPoint.
- Recognize various rhetorical audiences and appropriate manners of addressing them.
- Have the ability to analyze work participate in discussions and give constructive feedback.
- Must be able to facilitate online lecture.
- Interact professionally and constructively with students and staff at all levels
- Prior teaching experience in a college setting is a plus particularly teaching online.
- Teaches all courses as assigned by the Department Chair or Coordinator.
- Maintains attendance and punctuality.
- Always maintains a professional appearance.
- Prepares course syllabi.
- Meets all scheduled classes on the assigned day /time.
- Uses scheduled class time appropriately.
- Demonstrates a professional attitude philosophy and commitment that promotes student growth and learning.
