Inventory Management and Stock Handling
- Receiving Shipments: Unload and check incoming shipments for damage and accuracy, verifying that products match the orders and are in good condition.
- Inventory Control: Maintain accurate inventory records, including tracking products' quantities and locations within the warehouse. This may involve the use of handheld devices, scanners, or warehouse management software (WMS).
- Stock Organization: Store goods properly by sorting and categorizing items according to size, type, or other criteria to optimize space and ease of retrieval.
- Stock Replenishment: Replenish inventory levels as needed, ensuring that frequently used items are readily available for order fulfillment.
2. Order Fulfillment
- Picking Orders: Select items from storage to fulfill customer orders. This can involve manually retrieving items or using equipment like forklifts or automated picking systems.
- Packing Orders: Pack the selected items securely for shipping, ensuring products are well-protected and the correct items are included in each shipment.
- Labeling and Documentation: Apply shipping labels, complete packing slips, and ensure that all necessary documentation accompanies the shipment.
- Shipping Coordination: Prepare packages for dispatch, arrange for transportation, and ensure that the correct shipping methods and addresses are used.
3. Material Handling
- Loading and Unloading: Load products onto delivery trucks or containers and unload incoming deliveries, often using manual labor or material handling equipment like forklifts, pallet jacks, or conveyors.
- Heavy Lifting: Perform lifting, carrying, and stacking tasks, which may involve heavy or bulky items that require proper technique and safety measures.
- Safety Measures: Follow safety protocols to prevent accidents or injuries while handling materials, such as using the correct lifting techniques or wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) like gloves, helmets, or steel-toed boots.
4. Equipment Operation
- Forklift Operation: Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, or other machinery to transport heavy items around the warehouse, ensuring that all equipment is used safely and correctly.
- Maintenance of Equipment: Conduct basic checks on equipment (e.g., forklifts or conveyor belts) to ensure that it is functioning properly. Report any issues to the maintenance team for repairs.
- Use of Technology: Use handheld scanners, barcode readers, or warehouse management systems (WMS) to track products and orders efficiently.
5. Quality Control and Inspection
- Product Inspection: Inspect products for defects, damage, or discrepancies, and report any issues to supervisors or quality control teams.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that the items being shipped meet quality standards and match customer orders exactly to avoid returns or complaints.
