Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

1. Team Supervision and Staff Management

  • Staff Oversight: Supervise and manage a team of employees within the home appliances department or section, ensuring that staff follow company procedures and maintain high levels of productivity and service.
  • Scheduling and Shift Management: Create and manage employee schedules to ensure the department is adequately staffed during peak hours or sales periods.
  • Training and Development: Provide training on product knowledge, customer service, safety protocols, and sales techniques to new and existing staff. Ensure employees are up-to-date with the latest product lines and technological advancements in appliances.
  • Performance Management: Monitor and evaluate the performance of staff, providing feedback, setting goals, and addressing any performance issues or concerns.

2. Inventory Management and Stock Control

  • Inventory Supervision: Oversee the inventory of home appliances, ensuring stock levels are maintained appropriately, and products are reordered as necessary. Work with purchasing or procurement departments to manage supply chain needs.
  • Product Display: Ensure that home appliances are displayed in an appealing, organized, and accessible manner. Regularly update displays to reflect new products or seasonal promotions.
  • Stocktaking: Conduct regular stock checks, managing discrepancies, tracking sales trends, and ensuring that inventory records are accurate.
  • Merchandising: Collaborate with marketing and visual merchandising teams to ensure products are displayed effectively, highlighting key features and driving sales.

3. Sales and Customer Service

  • Sales Support: Assist the sales team in achieving sales targets by guiding customers through their product selections and providing in-depth product knowledge. Encourage upselling and cross-selling of complementary products.
  • Customer Assistance: Address customer inquiries, assist with product selections, and handle complaints or issues related to appliance purchases, returns, or service. Ensure customer satisfaction by resolving concerns quickly and professionally.
  • Product Demonstrations: Conduct demonstrations of home appliances to educate customers about product features, benefits, and usage, ensuring they understand how to operate the appliances safely and efficiently.
  • Sales Analysis: Monitor sales performance within the department, identifying opportunities for improvement and helping to implement strategies to increase sales and meet targets.

    • Strong leadership skills to manage and motivate a team, ensure high standards of performance, and resolve conflicts.
    • Excellent organizational skills to effectively manage schedules, inventory, and staff assignments.
  • Product Knowledge:

    • In-depth understanding of home appliances, including their features, functions, and benefits. Ability to explain technical aspects of appliances to customers in an easily understandable way.
  • Customer Service:

    • Outstanding customer service skills, with a focus on resolving customer issues, educating clients, and maintaining high levels of satisfaction.
    • Strong communication skills to engage with customers, staff, vendors, and senior management effectively.
  • Sales and Marketing:

    • Strong sales skills to help drive sales growth, increase revenue, and meet or exceed departmental targets.
    • Ability to recognize sales opportunities, upsell or cross-sell products, and implement promotional strategies.
  • Problem-Solving:

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, especially when addressing customer complaints, inventory discrepancies, or product quality issues.
  • Inventory and Stock Management:

    • Expertise in inventory control, stocktaking, and managing product flow. Ability to forecast demand and manage inventory levels effectively.
    • Attention to detail to prevent stockouts, overstocking, or product obsolescence.
  • Technical Aptitude:

    • Familiarity with the technical specifications and features of various home appliances. Ability to assist with troubleshooting or arranging repairs if necessary.
  • Time Management:

    • Ability to juggle multiple tasks effectively, from managing staff to overseeing inventory and responding to customer needs.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines, especially during busy retail periods.
  • Negotiation Skills:

    • Strong negotiation skills when working with vendors and suppliers, ensuring competitive pricing and favorable terms for the business.
