Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

The ability to follow proper payroll and uniform procedures. Install, repair, maintain and remove fire terminals, mobile computer terminals, remote repeater site equipment, update system identification of units and adjust projection screen display. Install, repair, maintain and remove fire station communication systems, including amplifiers, digitized vocal system, radio vocal system and speakers; perform minor telephone repairs. Install, repair, maintain and remove fire sirens, Motorola communication systems, Alcatel and Edwards systems. Operate circuit testing equipment, aerial lift equipment, small power tools, hand tools and related equipment. Troubleshoot communication systems for both fire station and fire detectors and perform scheduled maintenance; bring any regulatory, specification or procedural infractions into compliance. Read and interpret blueprints, schematic drawings and related symbols and markings. Make periodic spot checks. Maintain all records & logs required by law. Identify hazard, report it, propose solution and follow up. Work as safety committee secretary. Attend safety committee meetings and take minutes. Organize and held training sessions. Report violations and discuss it with offender his/her department head. Prepare semi-annual statistics required by law. Respond to public inquires in a courteous manner, provide information within the area of assignment; resolve complaints in an efficient and timely manner. Adhere to all related codes, regulations, specifications and procedures for duties assigned including obtaining required permits. Adhere to safe work practices and procedures. Respond to communication emergencies during evenings and weekends. Estimate time, materials and equipment required to complete assigned jobs, requisition materials as required; verify manifests upon receipt and inspect materials delivered by vendors; move materials in storage. Perform related duties as required. Maintain records and write reports. Estimate time, materials and equipment required for jobs assigned; requisition materials as required. Inspect and maintain fire sprinkler systems. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required The ability to respond to all guest complaints regarding the maintenance of their room or public area in a timely manner. The ability to assist in performing preventive maintenance in guestrooms and public areas. The ability to repair an assortment of items brought to the shop by other departments. The ability to assist Shift engineers on major shut downs for repairs. The ability to maintain logs for all work performed while on duty within department and those in other departments as they apply to Engineering Repairs. The ability to assist in installing or relocating any additional or existing equipment when necessary.


Desired candidate profile


  • Reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language.
  • colleague graduate, general engineering aptitude required.
  • Preferably certified Health & Safety technician.
  • High degree of initiative, motivation and endurance.
  • Knowledge of:
  • Operations, services and activities of fire alarm systems.
  • Principles, practices, theories and materials of electronic systems.
  • Occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
  • Properties and principles of electricity.
  • Methods, techniques, operations, services and activities of electrical, life safety, security and telecommunication systems and their interaction.
  • Operational characteristics of equipment and tools used in repair and installation of fire alarm systems systems.
  • Preventive maintenance techniques and procedures.
  • National codes of health & safety.
  • Ability to:
  • Troubleshoot and solve problems on systems serviced.
  • Read blueprints, schematics and designs.
  • Read and interpret department policies and procedures.
  • Operate a variety of electronic repair equipment in a safe and effective manner.
  • Perform maintenance on fire alarm systems.
  • Work near connected electrical circuits.
  • Distinguish colors.
  • Work on ladders at heights.
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions and sketches.
  • Work independently in the absence of supervision.
  • Supervise fire/health safety technician.
  • Heading safety committee meetings in absence of president.
  • Represent FSH and serve as ambassador to authorities.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Troubleshoot and solve problems on all components of fire alarm systems.
  • Independently perform skilled installation, maintenance and repair work of alarm systems.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Repair and replace damaged parts and equipment.
  • Identify hazard, report it and propose solutions.
  • Hold training sessions to hotel staff.
  • Routinely checks and rounds all over the hotel.
