Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs helping them to engage in learning and develop coping strategies.
- Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs) in collaboration with teachers and SEN staff.
- Foster a positive and calm classroom environment that supports emotional regulation and social interaction.
- Monitor and track student progress providing regular feedback to teachers and parents on emotional and academic development.
- Work closely with the pastoral team to address emotional and behavioural challenges promoting positive mental health and wellbeing.
- Participate in extracurricular activities and interventions that focus on social skills development and emotional resilience.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs is essential.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with students.
- A compassionate patient and resilient approach to supporting students with emotional and behavioural difficulties.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers SENCOs and parents.
- Relevant qualifications in education youth work or mental health support (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification) are desirable.
- A DBS check is required.
