Design electrical switchgear components (low-voltage, medium-voltage, and high-voltage) such as circuit breakers, disconnect switches, fuse gear, and busbars.
Develop detailed design specifications, drawings, and 3D models using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar).
Perform electrical, mechanical, and thermal analyses to ensure product performance under normal and fault conditions.
Select materials, components, and technologies in compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
Design Optimization and Improvement
Iterative Design Process: Refine and optimize designs through iterations, incorporating feedback from tests, stakeholders, or engineers. Evaluate performance, cost, and manufacturability to improve design efficiency and quality.
Design for Manufacturability (DFM): Ensure that designs are easy to manufacture and assemble. Work closely with manufacturing and production teams to address potential challenges in production.
Collaboration and Coordination
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineers from other disciplines (e.g., mechanical, electrical, civil) to integrate different subsystems into the final design.
Teamwork: Collaborate with product development teams, R&D, quality assurance, and other departments to refine designs, resolve issues, and meet project deadlines.
Client and Stakeholder Communication: Communicate design ideas and technical information to clients, project managers, and other stakeholders. Present designs for review and incorporate feedback.
Testing and Validation
Prototype Testing: Coordinate the testing of prototypes to validate design assumptions and ensure functionality, safety, and durability.
Performance Validation: Conduct or oversee tests to ensure that the product or system performs as intended under real-world conditions.
Compliance and Safety: Ensure designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental laws (e.g., ISO, ASTM, CE, etc.).
Cost Estimation and Budgeting
Cost-Effective Design: Develop designs that are not only functional and efficient but also cost-effective. Optimize design for reduced production, material, and assembly costs.
Budget Management: Work within project budgets and timelines, ensuring designs are completed on schedule without exceeding allocated costs.
Supplier Coordination: Coordinate with suppliers for sourcing materials, components, or systems. Evaluate and select suppliers based on cost, quality, and reliability.
