SEN Support Assistant Specialist Autism School Waltham Forest

A specialist autism school in Waltham Forest is seeking a patient and dedicated SEN Support Assistant to join their team. In this important role you will provide essential support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) helping them develop both academic and social skills in a nurturing and structured environment. Responsibilities:

  • Assist students with ASD in both academic subjects and daily living skills providing oneonone and small group support to enhance their learning experience.
  • Implement personalized strategies to help students develop communication skills social interactions and emotional regulation.
  • Collaborate closely with classroom teachers therapists and the specialized SEN team to create and modify lesson plans that accommodate individual learning needs.
  • Foster a positive and safe learning environment encouraging students to engage in classroom activities and build relationships with their peers.
  • Monitor and track student progress providing feedback and insights to teachers and parents to ensure that each students needs are being met effectively.
  • Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skills related to autism support and special education practices.
  • Engage in school activities and initiatives that promote a sense of community and belonging among students with ASD.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with students on the autism spectrum or within a special education setting is highly desirable.
  • A genuine passion for supporting individuals with ASD and a commitment to fostering their development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build trusting relationships with students families and colleagues.
  • A patient compassionate and flexible approach to working with diverse learners.
  • A clear DBS check is required to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students.
