Actively participate in scholarly work production either individually or collectively with other scholars in the department/division/college.
Conduct tutorial sessions, clinical sessions, seminars, and laboratory classes (where relevant).
Guide class discussions, whilst encouraging debate and feedback amongst students.
Prepare and mark student assignments, essays, and exams and provide one-on-one feedback on academic performance where necessary.
Supervise the work of students, as well as tutorial staff.
Attend departmental and faculty meetings with other staff members.
Participate in degree development, curriculum revision, and academic planning committees.
Conduct research into the specific field of knowledge/interest.
Develop course-related materials for class teaching assignments.
Contribute to the development, planning, and implementation of a high-quality curriculum.
Assist in the development of learning materials, preparing schemes of work, and maintaining records to monitor student progress, achievement, and attendance.
Other reasonable tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Course Delivery:
A primary responsibility of a lecturer is to deliver engaging and effective lectures, seminars, or tutorials. This may involve delivering content in a classroom, lab, or virtual setting.
Course Design and Development:
Lecturers are often involved in the development of course content, including creating syllabi, designing assignments, and selecting reading materials. They may also be involved in revising and updating curricula to ensure it aligns with current trends and research in the field.
Student Assessment and Feedback:
Designing and grading assessments, including exams, essays, and projects. Providing constructive feedback to students to help them improve their understanding of the material and achieve their academic goals.
Office Hours and Student Support:
Holding regular office hours to assist students with coursework, answer questions, and provide academic advice or guidance.
