Job Title: Plant Maintenance Technician
Job Summary:
The Plant Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep and repair of all equipment within the facility ensuring operational efficiency and safety. This role requires electrical experience with knowledge in diagnosing repairing and maintaining electrical systems and components. The technician will also support other maintenance functions including mechanical and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and enhance plant productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
Electrical Maintenance:
- Inspect diagnose and repair electrical issues in plant equipment including motors control panels wiring and circuits.
- Conduct routine electrical testing troubleshooting and maintenance on various machinery and systems.
- Replace or repair faulty electrical components and ensure all wiring is up to code and meets safety standards.
Mechanical Maintenance:
- Perform routine mechanical inspections preventive maintenance and repairs on facility equipment including conveyors pumps and compressors.
- Work with hydraulic pneumatic and motorized equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
Preventive and Predictive Maintenance:
- Create and follow a preventive maintenance schedule to maintain equipment reliability and minimize breakdowns.
- Document inspections repairs and maintenance activities for recordkeeping and compliance.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all company local and national electrical safety codes and standards.
- Ensure lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures are followed during repairs and maintenance.
Collaboration and Support:
- Work closely with other maintenance and production teams to identify potential improvements in equipment efficiency.
- Assist in equipment installation setup and operational training as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certificate in electrical systems or a related field is preferred.
- 2 years of experience in plant maintenance with a strong focus on electrical systems.
- Knowledge of electrical codes safety procedures and lockout/tagout (LOTO) practices.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints technical manuals and wiring diagrams.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and a commitment to safety and operational excellence.
Summary: Supports all production/facility equipment during normal operation, performs preventive maintenance on all equipment, and maintains facility in top condition. Performs minor and routine repairs including but, not limited to painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, and other related maintenance activities. Assists with the installation and modification of building or production equipment systems, if needed. Creates and maintains up-to-date service and replacement data files production related equipment. Performs routine Preventive Maintenance on equipment. Creates and maintains Preventive Maintenance files. Ensures PM s are performed at designated intervals. Assist with procurement of service contracts/repair work; assists with purchase of many facility fixtures and equipment. Responds in a timely fashion to problems related to facility maintenance and repair. Implements Corrective Actions when equipment issues occur. Makes recommendations to upgrade maintenance operations and/or implement savings opportunities. Inspects production related equipment of unsafe or malfunctioning conditions. Maintains a clean and safe working environment. Possesses and maintains a high level of competency and efficiency in all aspects of maintenance operations. Prepares required reports and correspondence. Performs other duties as assigned by manager. Order and maintain Spare Parts for equipment. Adhere to company safety policies and procedures. Qualifications: Grade 12 or equivalent 3 years experience in a maintenance position, preferably in an automotive related environment. Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and industrial maintenance. Ability to work at heights and in inclement weather. Commitment to excellence and high standards. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Ability to manage priorities and workflow. Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm. Demonstrates ability to plan and organize projects. Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees. Proficient in Excel, Word and Outlook Strong interpersonal skills Good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions. Ability to work on complex projects with general direction and minimal guidance. Bilingual skills a plus. Ability to understand any and all safety requirements and cautions. Ability to perform the physical labor necessary Ability to effectively communicate with people with people at all levels and from various backgrounds. Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace Ability to work in a sometimes-stressful environment MS Access experience Programmable Logic Control (PLC) experience.
