Job Description

SEN Learning Support Assistant Specialist School Fulham

A specialist school in Fulham is seeking a dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistant to provide individualized support to students with a range of learning difficulties. This fulltime permanent position offers a unique opportunity to work in a supportive and inclusive educational environment where you can make a significant difference in the lives of students with special educational needs.

Role Highlights

  • Permanent fulltime position within a dedicated SEN team that is committed to fostering an inclusive educational experience. You will work alongside experienced teachers and specialists who are passionate about helping students reach their full potential.
  • Assist in delivering tailored educational programs designed to meet the specific learning needs of each student. You will play a crucial role in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) adapting materials and utilizing various teaching strategies to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
  • Support students during lessons and in various learning environments providing oneonone assistance as well as working in small groups. Your support will help students build confidence develop skills and achieve their academic goals in a nurturing setting.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and supported. Your encouragement and understanding will help create a safe space for students to express themselves and participate actively in their learning.
  • Collaborate closely with teaching staff to monitor student progress and adapt teaching methods as necessary. Regular communication with teachers will ensure that you are aligned with the educational goals set for each student.
  • Engage in continuous professional development opportunities focused on best practices in special education. Staying current with the latest strategies and interventions will enhance your effectiveness as a learning support assistant.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions about student progress sharing insights and strategies that can benefit the learning experience. Your perspective as a support assistant is invaluable in tailoring approaches to individual needs.
  • Encourage social interaction and the development of interpersonal skills among students. Helping students build relationships with their peers is an essential aspect of their personal and academic growth.
  • Support students during extracurricular activities providing additional supervision and assistance to help them engage fully in the school community. Your involvement will help foster a sense of belonging and connection outside the classroom.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a similar role within an SEN environment is advantageous. Familiarity with the challenges faced by students with learning difficulties will equip you to provide effective support.
  • An adaptable and empathetic approach to diverse learning challenges is essential. Your ability to understand and respond to individual student needs will be key to their success.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to build rapport with students teachers and parents alike creating a collaborative support network.
  • A commitment to promoting an inclusive and positive educational environment that celebrates diversity and encourages all students to thrive.
  • A current and clear Enhanced DBS check is required to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students in your care.
