You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailAre you on the lookout for a master thesis project If so Greenely is looking for an exceptional individual to join our team! Greenely is the energy consumer platform dedicated to helping families navigate the increasingly complex world of electricity. Our mission is to reduce your energy bill to zero not merely by optimizing home energy usage but by enabling you to generate virtual power. Our mission is to enable every home to play a vital role in the energy transition in Europe.
What youll be doing :
Project 1:
Leveraging Residential EV Flexibility into the mFRR and Intraday Markets
Explore how residential electric vehicles (EVs) can be integrated into the manual Frequency Restoration Reserve (mFRR) and electricity wholesale markets (dayahead and intraday markets). This thesis will investigate strategies to harness the potential to use flexibility of EV charging and discharging to balance the grid and optimize energy costs. You will develop models to predict EV availability and create algorithms that enable households to participate in grid services. The research aims to enhance Greenelys Virtual Power Plant (VPP) capabilities by incorporating EV flexibility into grid balancing and energy trading activities.
Project 2:
Optimization of Aggregated Battery Storage Systems Between Ancillary and Wholesale Markets
This thesis focuses on optimizing the use of aggregated residential battery storage systems across ancillary services and wholesale electricity markets. You will analyze how batteries can be leveraged to provide services like frequency regulation while also engaging in energy arbitrage opportunities. The project involves developing optimization algorithms that consider market prices battery storage capacity inverter size technical aspects and market dynamics. Your findings will contribute to improving Greenelys energy management platform by maximizing economic benefits for both consumers and the grid.
Project 3:
Utilization and Optimization of EVs and Battery Storage Systems Together for Ancillary Services
Investigate the combined potential of EVs and residential battery storage systems to offer ancillary services to the electricity grid. This thesis will explore strategies for synchronizing these assets to enhance grid stability and create additional revenue streams for households. You will develop models to optimize charging and discharging schedules based on realtime grid demands and energy prices. The goal is to advance Greenelys VPP technology by demonstrating how integrated home energy assets can provide superior flexibility services.
Project 4:
Heat Pumps and Participation in mFRR and Electricity Wholesale Markets
Examine how residential heat pumps can participate in the mFRR and electricity wholesale markets to provide demandside flexibility and optimization of usage between markets. This thesis will assess the feasibility of adjusting heat pump operations to respond to grid signals without compromising homeowner comfort. You will develop control strategies and algorithms that enable heat pumps to contribute to frequency restoration and take advantage of price fluctuations in the wholesale market. Your research will help expand Greenelys platform to include heat pumps as a valuable asset for grid balancing and consumer cost savings.
