Our client is one of the oldest law firms in British Columbia committed to providing the highest standard of service to our clients and strives to be one of the top employers in BC. As their firm is growing they are adding a Controller to thier busy Vancouver Accounting team.
Reports to: Director of Finance
Role Summary: The Controller will be a key member of the accounting team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing full cycle accounting analysis reporting forecasts assisting with the development of policies and procedures compliance and producing financial statements for the Firm. They are also responsible for assisting with other daily accounting activities as needed along with their colleagues in the department when times are busy or team members are away. This is an ideal role for someone who is looking to grow and be mentored by an experienced leader who loves to teach while working in a supportive dynamic and fun environment.
Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Oversee and manage all financial operations including budgeting forecasting and financial analysis.
- Implement financial controls and risk management strategies to safeguard company assets.
- Prepare monthly quarterly and annual financial statements and reports for management review.
- Collaborate with various departments to support strategic financial decisionmaking.
- Lead and develop the finance team to enhance performance and ensure professional growth.
- Conduct various financial audits and ensure adherence to internal and external audit requirements.
- Monitor industry trends and economic conditions to inform financial planning.
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance Accounting or related field.
- Professional certification (CPA CMA or equivalent) is required.
- Strong knowledge of financial regulations and reporting standards.
- Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills.
- Proficient in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Desired Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management or a similar role.
- Experience in corporate finance and accounting practices.
- Demonstrated experience in managing finance teams and improving processes.
- Previous experience in a leadership role is preferred.
