Job Description

Reporting to the Chief Steward and the Executive Chef responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Replace the Chief Steward when they are not present including attending meetings
  • Supervise all Head Stewards and Stewarding staff
  • Conduct performance management training scheduling and assign daily duties as well as long term projects
  • Ensure the highest quality of cleanliness and organization in all food service areas as well as with service equipment
  • Monitor and control daily operations of the Stewarding department
  • Monitor all equipment in the Stewarding department ensuring that QA logs are completed
  • Full knowledge of the Collective Agreement and Labour Regulations
  • Administer coaching counseling and corrective action when necessary
  • Work with outside contractors regarding maintenance and repairs
  • Track and maintain inventory of glass china silverware for the Food & Beverage department
  • Process requests from kitchen banquets outlets and Food & Beverage office
  • Ensure a safe working environment in accordance with legislation
  • Understand the hotel recycling program policies and procedures and actively participate and encourage all staff to follow through.
  • Track and input EHC Gaia and EES data.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications :

  • 3 years leadership experience in food and beverage related work particularly stewarding
  • Must have a thorough understanding of employee relations labor laws and how they apply in a unionized environment
  • Results oriented highly motivated and able to work under pressure
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills
  • Commitment to and full understanding of health and safety practices
  • Valid WHMIS certification
  • Mechanical/Equipment maintenance knowledge an asset
  • Knowledge of MS Word Excel and Outlook
  • Familiar with environmental programs
  • English proficiency
