Reporting to the Chief Steward and the Executive Chef responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Replace the Chief Steward when they are not present including attending meetings
- Supervise all Head Stewards and Stewarding staff
- Conduct performance management training scheduling and assign daily duties as well as long term projects
- Ensure the highest quality of cleanliness and organization in all food service areas as well as with service equipment
- Monitor and control daily operations of the Stewarding department
- Monitor all equipment in the Stewarding department ensuring that QA logs are completed
- Full knowledge of the Collective Agreement and Labour Regulations
- Administer coaching counseling and corrective action when necessary
- Work with outside contractors regarding maintenance and repairs
- Track and maintain inventory of glass china silverware for the Food & Beverage department
- Process requests from kitchen banquets outlets and Food & Beverage office
- Ensure a safe working environment in accordance with legislation
- Understand the hotel recycling program policies and procedures and actively participate and encourage all staff to follow through.
- Track and input EHC Gaia and EES data.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications :
- 3 years leadership experience in food and beverage related work particularly stewarding
- Must have a thorough understanding of employee relations labor laws and how they apply in a unionized environment
- Results oriented highly motivated and able to work under pressure
- Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills
- Commitment to and full understanding of health and safety practices
- Valid WHMIS certification
- Mechanical/Equipment maintenance knowledge an asset
- Knowledge of MS Word Excel and Outlook
- Familiar with environmental programs
- English proficiency
