Job Description
Job Overview:
The XRay Grade Plate Welder is responsible for highquality welding on structural plates and components used in shipbuilding and heavy engineering. This role requires precision welding that meets Xray inspection standards to ensure durability and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform GTAW SMAW and other welding techniques on thick steel and alloy plates ensuring welds are defectfree and suitable for Xray inspection.
- Prepare plate surfaces before welding conduct thorough postweld inspections and perform Xray tests to verify weld quality.
- Follow shipyard safety protocols including confined space and elevated work safety to maintain a secure work environment.
- Set up operate and maintain welding equipment ensuring it meets required specifications.
- Record inspection results and welding details and report any issues that may affect quality or safety.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or certification in Welding or Metal Fabrication.
- 3 years experience in Xray grade plate welding
- Skills: Proficient in multiple welding techniques Xray inspection and quality standards.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to work in confined spaces at heights and in challenging conditions.
Skills and Competencies:
- Detailoriented with a strong focus on quality and safety
- Knowledge of welding standards and procedures for heavy engineering
- Team collaboration and effective communication
- Problemsolving skills in a fastpaced environment
