Optometrist (PartTime)
Location:
Larned State Hospital
1301 KS Hwy 264
Larned Kansas 67550
- Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship Required.
- Clearance Requirements: National Background Check with Inquires and Fingerprints.
- Estimated Pay: $60.00/hour.
- Type of Employment: PartTime 2 days a month/16 hours per month.
- Type of Employment Agreement: Independent Contractor.
- Period of Performance: date to be determine in December 2024 31 December 2029 (5 years).
Working Hours:
The working hours and the day of the week will be negotiated with the State Hospital Staff. No more than 16 hours per month will be allowed under this contract.
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited optometry school.
- Must have an active license issued by the state of Kansas.
Highly Desired Qualifications:
- Experience working with individuals with severe mental illness
- Experience in a hospital or clinical setting.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough eye examinations using specialized equipment to assess vision and detect eye disorders.
- Provide routine procedures such as fittings and repairing of glasses examination of refractory errors routine eye examination testing for visual acuity external eye examination.
- Diagnose and treat visual problems and manage ocular diseases such as glaucoma cataracts and macular degeneration.
- Prescribe corrective lenses contact lenses and other visual aids as needed.
- Provide other such procedures and/or testing falling within the contractors scope of practice such as Goldmann Applanation tonometry and dilated internal fundus of examination.
