Job Description
Digital Accessibility Consultant Remote
Our client in the insurance industry seeks an experienced accessibility specialist to support agile teams in building mobile applications that fully comply with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). This role is vital to promoting inclusive design ensuring that all users can effectively engage with digital products.
What is in it for you:
Salaried: $75 to $79 per hour.
Incorporated Business Rate: $88 to $92 per hour.
12month contract with the potential for permanent employment.
Fulltime position: 37.50 hours per week.
Work schedule from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

Responsibilities:
Serve as the accessibility expert for native mobile applications (iOS and Android).
Conduct code reviews with an accessibility focus keeping uptodate with iOS and Android features.
Provide feedback during design reviews.
Attend agile ceremonies across teams in a coaching capacity.
Develop accessibility acceptance criteria for user stories.
Confirm testing scope for quality assurance.
Evaluate preproduction components for accessibility.
Promote team selfsufficiency through shadowing and training.
Facilitate training tailored to different roles.
Conduct WCAG 2.X A/AA assessments for mobile applications.
What you will need to succeed:
5 years of experience in accessibility with at least 3 years focused on mobile accessibility.
Proficiency in assessing mobile applications for WCAG 2.1/2.0 AA compliance.
Skilled in using VoiceOver and Talkback screen readers and Deque axe Devtools.
Strong understanding of iOS and Android accessibility APIs.
Excellent communication skills for providing clear accessibility guidance.
IAAP Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC) preferred.
Knowledge of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and the Accessible Canada Act.
