Job Overview:
Our client a leading healthcare provider is seeking an experienced Hospital Accountant to manage and oversee financial operations. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of accounting principles within the healthcare sector and will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting budget management and compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Reporting:
o Prepare analyze and present monthly quarterly and annual financial statements to hospital management.
o Ensure accuracy in accounting processes and financial reporting in compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
2. Budgeting and Forecasting:
o Develop and manage the hospital s annual budget forecasting financial performance based on historical data and market trends.
o Monitor budget variances and provide timely reports to management offering insights and recommendations for financial optimization.
3. Accounts Payable and Receivable Management:
o Oversee billing collections and payment processes ensuring timely invoicing and collection of outstanding payments.
o Maintain accurate records of all accounts receivable and accounts payable ensuring compliance with internal controls and hospital policies.
4. Cost Management and Analysis:
o Conduct cost analysis and review of departmental expenses identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
o Collaborate with department heads to analyze financial data and provide insights for decisionmaking.
5. Regulatory Compliance:
o Ensure compliance with local state and federal regulations including tax filings audits and financial disclosures.
o Prepare for and coordinate internal and external audits addressing any findings or recommendations.
6. Payroll and Asset Management:
o Oversee the payroll processing ensuring accurate and timely payment of salaries benefits and taxes.
o Manage hospital assets including inventory equipment and supplies maintaining accurate records of depreciation and asset valuation.
7. Financial Systems Management:
o Utilize accounting software and hospital management systems to streamline financial operations and reporting.
o Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard the hospital s financial assets.
8. Team Leadership:
o Provide mentorship and training to junior accounting staff fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.
o Collaborate with the finance team and other departments to support financial planning and hospital operations.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor s Degree in Accounting Finance or a related field.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting with at least 3 years in a healthcare or hospital setting.
Strong knowledge of accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks SAP Oracle) and hospital management systems.
Proficiency in financial analysis budgeting and reporting.
Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
Knowledge of healthcare regulations including billing coding and insurance practices.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to present financial information to nonfinancial stakeholders.
