Purpose
The QA/QC Engineer will oversee and manage the quality assurance and quality control processes for Building Management System (BMS) installations. This role includes auditing installation processes reporting on compliance with industry standards and specifications and coordinating with teams to resolve quality issues. The engineer will ensure that all BMS installations meet the highest quality standards and function effectively within the broader building systems.
Work Overview
- Conduct regular QA/QC audits of BMS installations to assess compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
- Review and verify installation procedures and documentation.
- Identify quality issues and discrepancies during audits.
- Collaborate with installation teams to develop and implement corrective actions.
- Prepare comprehensive compliance and quality reports for internal review and client submission.
- Document audit findings corrective actions and quality improvement initiatives.
- Develop and update QA/QC procedures and checklists specific to BMS installations.
- Recommend process enhancements to improve installation quality and efficiency.
- Ensure all BMS installations comply with relevant industry codes standards and regulations.
- Stay updated on changes in regulations and standards affecting BMS installations.
- Provide training and guidance to installation teams on quality standards and best practices.
- Promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement within the organization.
- Work closely with project managers engineers and other stakeholders to ensure quality objectives are met.
- Participate in project meetings to provide qualityrelated insights and updates.
- Maintain accurate records of quality assurance activities including audit reports compliance documents and corrective action plans.
- Ensure all quality documentation is accessible and uptodate.
- Performs other duties within the scope of the role to support the organizations goals.
Requirements
Prerequisites
- Strong understanding of BMS systems components and installation practices.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD) for reviewing technical drawings.
- Familiarity with QA/QC software tools and data analysis programs.
- Experience with project management software (e.g. MS Project Primavera).
- Strong ability to produce detailed and accurate reports and documentation.
- Experience in maintaining quality records and documentation management systems.
- Excellent analytical skills to identify quality issues and develop effective solutions.
- Ability to think critically and make informed decisions under pressure.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Electronic Computer or Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of 35 years of experience in QA/QC roles within BMS engineering or construction environments.
- Relevant certifications in quality management (e.g. ISO 9001 Lead Auditor Certified Quality Engineer)
- Certifications related to BMS systems (e.g. Tridium Niagara Siemens Johnson Controls) are a plus.
Prerequisites Knowledge of auxiliary systems (structured cabling systems, switches, CCTV, AV) Working with vendors to correctly select systems (switches, firewalls, audio/visual etc) Must have strong English communication both written and verbal. Must be confident and socially adept. Must have a proven track record of exceeding sales targets. Must be committed to excellence and have an attention for detail. Must have a working capability for technical sales, including passing vendor sales certifications. Must be able to handle pressure from time to time and always meet deadlines. Must have excellent time management and organisation skills.
