Reporting to the Department Head of Mathematics, the Assistant Professor should be an experienced educator with creative and innovating skills, capable of effectively planning, developing, and delivering courses in all areas of the undergraduate curriculum, especially second- and third-year mathematics and research methods courses within UDST’s College of General Education. We are seeking an exceptional educator and researcher who excels in teaching and scholarship, actively mentors’ students, contributes to institutional and community service, collaborates across disciplines, and pursues professional development initiatives.
A demonstrated record of research productivity, including peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, and/or other scholarly activities. The candidate should have a research agenda that aligns with current trends in mathematics and has the potential to contribute to the advancement of knowledge in their field.
Ability to pursue independent research while also collaborating with other faculty members and students, either within the mathematics department or across disciplines.
Experience in obtaining research funding (e.g., through grants from institutions like the National Science Foundation (NSF) or Simons Foundation) or actively participating in collaborative research projects is desirable.
Teaching Skills:
Ability to teach mathematics courses effectively, including core topics such as calculus, linear algebra, abstract algebra, real analysis, and differential equations.
Experience or the ability to teach specialized upper-division or graduate-level courses in the candidate's area of expertise, such as mathematical modeling, advanced algebra, or complex analysis.
