The chemistry faculty will focus on delivering high-quality teaching in the College of General Education curriculum and fostering a positive learning environment to support all UDST academic programs. The role involves teaching first-year undergraduate chemistry courses and some science electives focused on green chemistry, nanotechnology, renewable energy, and sustainable materials. Additional responsibilities include curriculum development, supporting students' academic progress, and conducting independent research. Preference will be given to candidates whose teaching dossier and research plan best prepare them to fulfill an interdisciplinary role in the science department.
Subject Matter Expertise:
In-depth knowledge of chemistry, including core areas such as organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, and environmental chemistry.
Strong foundation in chemical principles and the ability to apply these principles to solve complex scientific problems.
Familiarity with emerging fields in chemistry such as nanotechnology, green chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, materials science, or environmental chemistry is a plus.
Proficiency in laboratory techniques and use of chemical instrumentation, as well as a strong focus on safety protocols in the lab.
Teaching & Pedagogy:
Ability to develop engaging lesson plans and course content that aligns with departmental goals and standards.
Expertise in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in chemistry, adapting the complexity of the material to students' knowledge levels.
Skilled in creating interactive learning experiences, combining lectures with hands-on laboratory work, demonstrations, and group projects.
Experience with flipped classrooms, blended learning, or online education is advantageous.
Familiarity with curriculum development and student-centered learning approaches, ensuring the material is relevant, challenging, and engaging.
