Job Description
We are seeking a Firewall Subject Matter Expert with advanced expertise in Network Security Filtering both networkbased and hostbased filtering/microsegmentation. This role requires a strong background in risk management and firewall management including advanced knowledge of firewall rule base review network security policies and protocol configurations. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to nontechnical stakeholders.
Contract: 9 months 12 months
Working hours: 9 AM to 6 PM HKT
Location: Onsite Hong Kong
Job Description
Responsibilities:
1. Manage firewall configurations with at least 5 years of handson experience.
2. Oversee risk management and perform thorough evaluations to align firewall settings with security policies and compliance standards.
3. Conduct firewall rule base reviews focusing on:
Access Control Rules: Ensure that only essential traffic is allowed blocking unauthorized traffic.
Rule Order: Verify that rules are sequenced correctly as firewalls process rules from top to bottom.
4. Perform Policy Changes Review: Document and assess any changes made to firewall configurations to ensure they align with security policies and industry best practices.
5. Maintain Security Policy Compliance: Regularly update firewall rules in response to network and security requirements.
6. Conduct Network Topology Reviews: Confirm that firewall settings match the current network architecture and are positioned optimally for security.
7. Identify and remove unused rules and objects to maintain a clean and efficient rule base.
8. Assess the impact of new firewall rules on network performance and security.
9. Collaborate with IT and security teams to resolve firewall rule issues and implement improvements.
10. Manage and document firewall rule requests approvals and denials.
11. Stay informed on industry trends vulnerabilities and best practices in firewall management.
12. Basic Linux scripting skills in languages like PERL or shell scripting are preferred.
13. Provide recommendations to enhance firewall policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor s degree in Computer Science Information Technology or related field.
2. Strong understanding of ports protocols and networking concepts.
3. Proficiency with two or more firewall systems (e.g. Palo Alto Checkpoint Juniper Fortigate Cisco).
4. Experience in firewall rule review tools such as Algosec or Tufin is preferred.
5. Effective communication skills to bridge technical knowledge with nontechnical stakeholders.
6. Any one of the following certifications is mandatory: CCSA CCSE Palo Alto Fortinet NSE
