The Personal Care Assistant (PCA) plays a vital role in supporting our seniors by providing compassionate and professional assistance with their daily living activities. Our ideal candidate is someone who possesses a genuine love for working with the elderly and understands the unique challenges they face. They will be responsible for ensuring that our seniors enjoy a comfortable safe and fulfilling lifestyle.
Key Responsibilities:
Personal Care: Assist seniors with daily personal hygiene activities including bathing grooming and dressing. Ensure dignity and respect throughout all interactions.
Companionship: Engage with seniors in social activities fostering emotional support and combating feelings of loneliness. This may include playing games reading books or simply having meaningful conversations.
Mobility Assistance: Aid seniors with mobility needs helping them move safely around their living environment and encouraging physical activity when appropriate.
Meal Preparation: Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and preferences ensuring seniors maintain healthy eating habits.
Medication Management: Assist with the organization and reminders for medication schedules ensuring that seniors take their medications as prescribed.
Household Support: Light housekeeping duties may be required including laundry cleaning and organizing personal spaces to help maintain a safe and welcoming home.
Transportation Assistance: Provide support for outings medical appointments and social events either by driving or accompanying seniors on public transport.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in personal care healthcare or related fields is preferred but a compassionate attitude and willingness to learn are paramount.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to connect and build trust with seniors and their families.
Physical stamina and strength as some lifting and assistance with mobility will be necessary.
First Aid/CPR certification is highly desirable.
Background check and references will be required.
