Ensures safety of guests and associates within the designated swimming areas during the posted business hours.
Possesses Life Guard certification and authorized to conduct AR and CPR.
Ensures set-up of safety equipment at the pool which includes set up of life saving floatation devices along the shoreline/around the pool; correct flag must be in placed during business hours; first aid kit; posting of business hours; depth of the pool; water & air temperatures.
Responds to any emergency within the hotel, resort swimming areas including ensuring that rescue boat is available at all times.
Performs other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Safety Monitoring:
Monitor the pool area continuously to ensure the safety of all swimmers, maintaining a vigilant watch over guests, especially children or non-swimmers.
Enforce pool rules and regulations, ensuring compliance to ensure the safety of all guests.
Observe and assess water conditions (e.g., water clarity, pool cleanliness) and take appropriate action if conditions are unsafe.
Emergency Response & First Aid:
Respond quickly and effectively to emergency situations, including administering CPR, first aid, or performing water rescues when required.
Stay alert to possible drowning or injury incidents, ensuring quick intervention and taking appropriate action to manage emergencies.
Maintain proficiency in life-saving techniques, first aid, and emergency protocols. Perform rescues and provide medical care until additional assistance arrives (e.g., paramedics).
Guest Assistance & Communication:
Provide guests with information regarding pool rules, hours of operation, water safety, and general facility guidelines.
Offer assistance to swimmers who may need help, including guiding children or less-experienced swimmers, and providing safety equipment when necessary.
Communicate with other lifeguards and staff to ensure smooth operation of the pool area and coordination during shifts.
Pool Area Maintenance & Cleanliness:
Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of the pool area, including clearing debris from the pool, ensuring the poolside and surrounding areas are safe and free of hazards.
Monitor the condition of pool equipment (e.g., lifebuoys, diving boards, poolside chairs) and report any maintenance issues to the appropriate department.
Ensure that pool chemicals are properly balanced and report any discrepancies to the supervisor.
Record Keeping & Reporting:
Document daily pool activities, including any incidents, accidents, or safety concerns that arise.
Record water temperature, chlorine levels, and other relevant pool conditions at regular intervals.
Report any safety or maintenance concerns to the Pool Supervisor or Recreation Manager in a timely manner.
