Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Lumber Buyer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the lumber market strong negotiation skills and a proven track record of sourcing highquality lumber at competitive prices. This role is essential in ensuring the timely and costeffective procurement of lumber for our production needs.
Responsibilities
- Sourcing and Procurement:
- Identify and develop relationships with reliable lumber suppliers.
- Research and analyze market trends to identify costeffective sourcing opportunities.
- Negotiate favorable pricing delivery terms and quality standards with suppliers.
- Place purchase orders and manage inventory levels to optimize stock levels.

- Quality Assurance:
- Inspect incoming lumber shipments to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Collaborate with quality control teams to address any quality issues.
- Develop and implement quality control procedures to minimize defects and waste.

- Monitor market fluctuations and adjust purchasing strategies to minimize costs.

- Supplier Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and quality products.
- Resolve supplier issues and disputes promptly and professionally.
- Evaluate supplier performance and identify potential new suppliers.

- Generate regular reports on purchasing activities including supplier performance cost analysis and inventory levels.

Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in business administration supply chain management or related field.
- 5 years of experience in lumber purchasing or a related field.
- Strong understanding of lumber grades species and industry standards.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficiency in purchasing software and ERP systems.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Additional Considerations
- Experience in the construction or manufacturing industry is preferred.
- Knowledge of international sourcing and logistics is a plus.
- Certification in purchasing or supply chain management is a bonus.
