Main purpose of the outpatient department:
The purpose of the outpatient department is to provide effective and reliable preventive and curative paediatric outpatient healthcare services that meet the expectations of clients and that enhance continuity of care. The department serves mostly ambulatory patients with a few emergency patients. Some patients will be provided follow up chronic care while others may be admitted and transferred to the inpatient.

Ambulatory outpatient care
Preventive care including but not limited to well baby services vaccination travel vaccination nutritional care and dental care
Continuity of care including but not limited to: recommendations for and facilitation to get inpatient admission; follow up outpatient specialized care; appropriate referral to diagnostics secondary and tertiary services; effective transfer to diagnostics secondary and tertiary services.

Main purpose of this position
To provide front office services including reception patient registration and billing at the outpatient as part of a multidisciplinary care process leading to desired patient care outcomes service standards and best practice standards.
Key responsibilities of the position
Provision of outpatient front office services in line with established protocols and best practice
Implementation of policies standards operating procedures in relation to front office services.
Accurate documentation of all professional and other activities in line with the professional ethical requirements and standard operating procedures.
Meeting of client and statutory expectations with regard to front office services
Maintenance of requisite competencies and statutory requirements to practice as a front office assistant
Participation in quality improvement initiatives
Participating in health promotion activities

Education and Professional Training
Diploma or degree in office administration front office management accounting public relations
Experience
At least six months experience post graduation
