Joining Smartcat could be a pivotal step in your career, offering you the opportunity to make a real impact within a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment. As a data-driven organization, Smartcat is dedicated to accelerating its growth through data insights, and in this role, you'll be at the forefront of shaping its future. By working across HR and Finance data, you’ll help tell the story of Smartcat’s talent and compensation strategies, driving key insights that influence decision-making at all levels of the company.
In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing systems and processes that directly impact Smartcat’s people operations, especially in the area of variable compensation payouts. With a focus on HR and Finance data, you'll build dashboards that are both actionable and insightful, tailored to the needs of various user groups within the organization. This includes constructing a People Operations dashboard focused on talent KPIs, helping to boost workforce efficiency and talent density. By monitoring vital people operations functions such as hiring and rewards, you'll contribute to Smartcat’s goals of improving internal equity, ensuring fair and transparent compensation practices across a diverse and global workforce.
Another key aspect of this role is leading the organization-wide compensation benchmarking efforts for Smartcat’s employees, spanning across 30+ countries and 20+ U.S. states. You'll leverage your expertise to gather, standardize, and synthesize compensation data, enabling the company to stay competitive in a global market. Additionally, you will prepare standardized templates that allow Smartcat to compare its total rewards offerings with those of its competitors, ensuring the company remains an attractive employer in its industry.
To succeed in this role, you’ll need a deep understanding of HR and people operations metrics, combined with at least 4 years of experience in data analytics or a related field. Expert-level proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets is essential, with a strong command of pivot tables, lookups, index matching, and more advanced functions. Your ability to pull, manipulate, and synthesize data from multiple systems—such as HubSpot, NetSuite, HiBob, Greenhouse, and LinkedIn—will be key to building out the dashboards and reporting systems necessary to meet Smartcat’s goals.
A data-driven mindset is critical, as is the ability to use concrete metrics to justify decisions and insights. Your strong analytical skills, paired with a growth-oriented mindset and willingness to receive constructive feedback, will set you up for success in this role. You’ll also need to be comfortable working U.S.-based hours (9 a.m. to 6 p.m. EST), contributing to a fast-paced team that values ownership, persistence, and a collaborative spirit.
