Roles and responsibilities
Lead electrical equipment maintenance and perform maintenance engineering and project activities at the critical Common Seawater Facility (CSF) to support the Lead Engineer in ensuring that the facility and equipment meets design reliability requirements and Production availability targets, while ensuring a safe working environment for QatarEnergy and Contractor personnel.
Experience in managing OT system cybersecurity in smart substations is advantageous. 10-12 years of proven engineering experience, including operation, maintenance, design and asset management of electrical systems up to 220kV, preferably within the oil and gas industry or public utilities. Direct, hands-on and in-depth maintenance and operation experience of minimum 33 kV switchgear and equipment, while experience at 220 kV is preferred. Experience in maintenance scheduling, budgeting and estimating. Strong and proven experience is required in relevant maintenance engineering, maintenance optimisation and engineering design, with further analytical skills in reliability and availability of equipment and plant. Strong communication, influencing, presentation and negotiation skills. Excellent written and oral English. Knowledge of Arabic will be an advantage. Strong project management, organizational and time management skills. Strong computer skills, including advanced or expert knowledge of MSOffice applications and CMMS applications.

Cloud Platforms:
- AWS: Familiarity with core AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, etc.), architecture best practices, and security practices.
- Microsoft Azure: Knowledge of key Azure services (VMs, Azure Functions, Azure Storage, Networking, etc.), security, and Azure Active Directory.
- Google Cloud Platform (GCP): Understanding of GCP services (Compute Engine, App Engine, Kubernetes Engine, BigQuery, etc.) and cloud-native application management.
Cloud Management Tools & Automation:
- IaC Tools: Experience with Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or Azure Resource Manager for automating infrastructure provisioning and configuration management.
- Containerization & Orchestration: Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, EKS, AKS, and similar container orchestration platforms for managing cloud-based containerized applications.
- CI/CD: Familiarity with tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, and CircleCI for building, testing, and deploying applications in the cloud.
Networking and Security:
- Networking concepts: Understanding of networking basics like DNS, VPCs, VPNs, subnets, load balancing, and firewall management in the cloud.
- Security: Strong knowledge of cloud security practices, including IAM (Identity and Access Management), encryption (at rest and in transit), firewalls, and multi-factor authentication (MFA).
Databases and Storage:
- Cloud databases: Proficiency with cloud database services like Amazon RDS, Azure SQL Database, Google Cloud SQL, NoSQL databases (e.g., DynamoDB, MongoDB), and Cloud Spanner.
- Cloud storage: Knowledge of storage services such as Amazon S3, Azure Blob Storage, Google Cloud Storage, and file systems for scalable, distributed storage.
Monitoring and Logging:
- Monitoring Tools: Familiarity with tools like Amazon CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Google Stackdriver, and Prometheus for real-time monitoring of cloud infrastructure.
- Logging & Auditing: Experience with cloud-based logging and auditing tools, such as AWS CloudTrail, Azure Security Center, and Google Cloud Logging.
Scripting & Programming:
- Scripting languages: Strong knowledge of languages like Python, Bash, PowerShell, or Ruby to automate cloud operations and integrations.
- APIs: Understanding of RESTful APIs and how to integrate cloud services with applications using cloud SDKs (e.g., AWS SDK, Azure SDK, Google Cloud SDK).
