You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailexperience of shipping operations within a shipping/Oil/Gas Company or should have sailed as a Senior Deck; or internal transfer from marine/shipping related activities • Must have previous experience and understanding of ship operations including marine loading and discharging, in LNG or LPG operations. • Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural skills and must be a committed team player. • Good working understanding of Shipping Commercial documents. • Thorough understanding and knowledge of Safety, Health and Environmental Standards as they relate to the Oil & Gas Industry and the Marine Environment. Experienced in Marine Incident Emergency Response desirable.
Fleet Operations Management:
In-depth knowledge of fleet management processes, including vehicle acquisition, maintenance scheduling, fuel management, and route optimization.
Ability to manage the lifecycle of vehicles and equipment, ensuring timely replacements, upgrades, or disposals in line with business needs and budgets.
Expertise in fleet tracking systems (e.g., GPS, telematics) and fleet management software (e.g., Fleet Complete, Samsara, Geotab).
Maintenance & Repairs:
Ensuring preventive maintenance programs are in place to keep vehicles and equipment in good working condition, reducing downtime and repair costs.
Experience managing in-house maintenance teams or coordinating with external service providers for vehicle inspections, repairs, and servicing.
Knowledge of fleet performance metrics and using these to drive continuous improvements in vehicle uptime and reliability.
Regulatory Compliance & Safety Standards:
Familiarity with local and international regulations governing fleet operations, including safety standards (e.g., OSHA, DOT regulations) and environmental standards (e.g., emission standards).
Ensuring all fleet vehicles and drivers comply with safety protocols, driving laws, and industry regulations.
Ability to conduct regular safety audits, enforce safety policies, and implement corrective actions when needed.
Fuel Management & Cost Control:
Implementing fuel management programs to monitor fuel consumption, reduce costs, and ensure fuel efficiency.
Tracking fuel usage, optimizing routes for fuel efficiency, and identifying opportunities for fuel savings.
Managing fleet costing and budgeting, including controlling fuel expenses, repair costs, and fleet insurance premiums.
Driver Management & Training:
Overseeing driver recruitment, training, and performance evaluation. Ensuring that drivers meet company standards in terms of performance, safety, and compliance.
Implementing driver training programs focused on safe driving practices, customer service, and efficient route management.
Managing driver schedules and ensuring that drivers comply with work-hour regulations and rest periods.
Route Planning & Logistics:
Expertise in route optimization to improve efficiency, reduce fuel consumption, and enhance delivery times.
Ability to analyze traffic patterns, road conditions, and other factors that impact delivery or service times and implement real-time adjustments.
Using fleet management software and data analytics to optimize vehicle routes and schedules for maximum operational efficiency.
Communication Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication skills for liaising with internal teams, drivers, vendors, and senior management.
Ability to present complex fleet data and performance metrics clearly and effectively to stakeholders at all levels.
Problem-Solving & Decision Making:
Excellent problem-solving skills to address operational issues, such as vehicle breakdowns, delays, or regulatory non-compliance.
Ability to make quick and effective decisions in high-pressure situations, particularly when managing fleet disruptions or incidents.
Attention to Detail & Organizational Skills:
High attention to detail in managing vehicle records, compliance documentation, maintenance schedules, and budgeting.
Organizational skills to manage multiple priorities, schedules, and tasks within a dynamic and often fast-paced environment.
Negotiation Skills:
Strong negotiation skills when working with suppliers, contractors, and service providers to ensure favorable terms and conditions for the company.
Experience:
Experience working with fleet management software and technologies (e.g., GPS tracking, telematics) to monitor and optimize fleet performance.
Background in managing fleets in industries such as oil and gas, construction, transportation, logistics, or shipping is highly valued.
Certifications & Training:
Certified Automotive Fleet Manager (CAFM) or Fleet Management Professional (FMP) certification.
Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or similar certification (if applicable in the region).
Logistics or Supply Chain Management certifications (e.g., Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), Certified in Logistics, Transportation, and Distribution (CLTD)).
Training in safety management and regulatory compliance (e.g., OSHA, DOT regulations).
Project Management certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) can be beneficial for managing large-scale fleet projects.
