The role encompasses a range of responsibilities, including but not limited to, student advising and mentoring, which are essential for fostering student development and success.
In addition to mentoring students, the faculty member will be responsible for the development and assessment of curriculum that aligns with departmental goals and academic standards. This includes crafting innovative course materials and assessing student learning outcomes to ensure academic rigor and relevance. The successful candidate will also contribute to department and committee service, participating in initiatives that enhance the academic community and support institutional goals.
Moreover, active involvement in student recruitment and placement activities is a critical component of the role. Faculty will engage with prospective students and parents, showcasing the strengths and opportunities available within the program. The teaching load typically comprises up to 12 credit hours per academic semester at the Abu Dhabi campus; however, this may vary based on participation in other academic initiatives or responsibilities. Flexibility may be required, as faculty may be asked to teach at the Al-Ain campus depending on departmental needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, applicants must possess a Ph.D. from an internationally accredited university, with relevant work experience in higher education. A strong background in conducting hands-on and field-based courses is required, demonstrating the candidate’s ability to deliver practical learning experiences that enhance student engagement and learning. Additionally, the candidate must have proven experience in mentoring students, guiding them in their academic pursuits and professional development.
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English are essential for this role, as the faculty member will be expected to deliver lectures, engage in scholarly discussions, and produce written materials for publication. Evidence of scholarly activity is required, including a record of peer-reviewed publications, which will be assessed based on the applicant’s h-index. The minimum h-index requirements are as follows: 10 for Assistant Professor, 15 for Associate Professor, and 25 for Professor. These metrics are indicators of the candidate's research impact and contribution to their respective field.
