We are seeking a dedicated and experienced HND Computing Assessor to join our team and contribute to the academic success of our students.
Job Overview:
The HND Computing Assessor will be responsible for delivering and assessing Level 4 and Level 5 modules within the Pearson BTEC Higher National Diploma in Computing program. The role involves planning and delivering engaging lessons assessing student work providing constructive feedback and ensuring that all assessments meet the standards set by Pearson and relevant quality assurance frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Delivery: Plan prepare and deliver highquality lessons across various computing modules ensuring alignment with the Pearson BTEC Higher National Diploma in Computing curriculum.
Assessment and Feedback: Design and implement assessment strategies that accurately measure student performance against learning outcomes. Provide timely and constructive feedback to support student development.
Student Support: Offer academic guidance and support to students addressing individual learning needs and promoting a positive learning environment.
Quality Assurance: Ensure all teaching and assessment practices comply with Pearsons standards and the institutions quality assurance policies.
Professional Development: Engage in continuous professional development to stay current with advancements in computing and educational best practices.
Subject Knowledge and Expertise:
The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge and experience in the following areas:
Programming: Proficiency in multiple programming languages and paradigms with the ability to teach foundational and advanced programming concepts.
Networking: Understanding of network design implementation and management including knowledge of protocols network security and infrastructure.
Database Design and Development: Expertise in database management systems data modelling SQL and database administration.
Cyber Security: Knowledge of information security principles risk management cryptography and ethical hacking practices.
Software Development Lifecycle: Familiarity with various software development methodologies including Agile and Waterfall and the ability to teach their application in realworld scenarios.
Data Analytics: Ability to teach data analysis techniques statistical methods and the use of analytical tools to interpret and present data effectively.
Emerging Technologies: Awareness of current trends and developments in computing such as cloud computing artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things (IoT).
Qualifications and Experience:
A bachelors degree in Computing Computer Science or a related field; a masters degree is preferred.
Teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE) or willingness to work towards one.
Relevant industry certifications (e.g. CompTIA Cisco Microsoft) are advantageous.
Experience teaching or assessing at the higher education level particularly within HND or similar programs.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and motivate students.
