Roles and responsibilities
The Data Analyst plays a key role in enabling data-driven decision-making by transforming raw data into actionable insights. The role involves collaborating with business stakeholders to define analytics requirements, developing and maintaining data visualization solutions, and ensuring data accuracy and accessibility. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, analytical thinking, and strong communication skills to support the organization’s analytical needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Business Requirements Gathering:
- Collaborate with business users to understand and translate their needs into clear analytics requirements (e.g., data sources, reporting tools, dashboards).
- Conduct workshops and meetings to refine analytics goals and ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Data Cleaning & Transformation:
- Utilize tools like Tableau Prep, Python, and other relevant technologies to clean, transform, and prepare data for analysis.
- Ensure data integrity through validation, integration, and reconciliation of multiple data sources.
- Reporting & Dashboard Development:
- Develop, design, and deliver interactive reports and dashboards that align with user requirements, using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or other BI platforms.
- Apply data visualization best practices, focusing on clarity, usability, and actionable insights.
- Provide clear justification for design decisions, ensuring alignment with business goals and data visualization heuristics.
- Documentation & Project Support:
- Draft detailed project documentation, including analytics requirements, technical specifications, and progress reports.
- Prepare comprehensive reports on technical research outcomes, project deliverables, and development progress.
- Report Maintenance & Optimization.
- Maintain and continuously improve existing reports, dashboards, and data models to adapt to changing business needs.
- Troubleshoot and optimize analytics solutions, enhancing performance and usability.
- Provide end-user support for analytics tools and solutions, including guidance on report modifications, upgrades, and effective usage.
- Conduct training sessions and create user documentation to promote self-service analytics across the organization.
- Data Governance & Security:
- Adhere to data governance policies, ensuring the accuracy, confidentiality, and security of data.
- Implement and monitor data quality standards, taking corrective action as necessary.
Desired candidate profile
Qualifications & Skills:
- Data Manipulation: Expertise in pivoting, joining, aggregating, and other data transformation techniques.
- Data Visualization: Proficiency in creating charts and visualizations, with an understanding of when to use different types (e.g., Line, Bar, Pie, Scatter).
- Data Analytics Tools: Hands-on experience with Tableau is a must.
- Programming: Strong skills in Python for data analysis and manipulation.
- ETL Processes: Knowledge of Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes using relevant tools and methods.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Additional certifications in Data Science, Data Analytics, or relevant programming languages are highly preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a data analytics, business intelligence, or similar role.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful data solutions.
- Familiarity with data governance, data quality management, and data security best practices.
